Euskalmet issues yellow alert for heavy rainfall on Sunday

The meteorological agency Euskalmet has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall on Sunday, May 10, effective from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, primarily affecting Gipuzkoa and Álava.

This yellow alert follows previous warnings issued on April 29, 30, and May 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9. Forecasts indicate that more than 15 l/m² could accumulate in one hour, with moderate and thundery showers expected, potentially becoming heavy in some areas.

"More than 15 l/m² can accumulate in one hour. There will be moderate and thundery showers, which in some places may be heavy, especially in Gipuzkoa and Álava. Hail (1-3 cm) may fall and very strong wind gusts (60-80 km/h) are possible."

In Usurbil, on Sunday, May 10, the sky will be partly cloudy or mostly clear in the morning; in the afternoon, convective clouds will develop, bringing light to moderate and thundery showers. The wind will be light to moderate from the southwest, with strong to very strong gusts, and sea breezes in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain unchanged.
On Monday, May 11, similar weather is expected: partly cloudy or mostly clear skies in the morning, with convective clouds developing in the afternoon, leading to light showers, locally moderate and possibly thundery. The light to moderate southwest wind will shift to a northerly component from midday. Minimum temperatures will remain unchanged, and maximum temperatures will rise slightly.
For Tuesday, May 12, a gradual increase in cloudiness is anticipated during the early morning, with cloudy to very cloudy skies for the rest of the day. Light showers will occur from the morning, potentially becoming moderate in some areas in the afternoon. The wind will be light to moderate from the north, with some strong gusts at night. Minimum temperatures will not change, and maximum temperatures will decrease slightly to moderately.
