The fourth edition of the Pasaia Itsas Festibala attracted over 90,000 visitors between May 15 and 17. This maritime festival, held every two years in the bay of Pasaia, offered a diverse program of cultural activities.
According to the organization, the most significant aspects of this year's event were the presence of the replica of the historic nao San Juan and the prominence of Canada as the invited maritime culture. Both were highlighted for their historical symbolism and the strong connection between Pasaia and Newfoundland.
Due to the adverse weather and navigation conditions announced beforehand, the number of registered vessels decreased by almost 29%. Nevertheless, about a hundred ships eventually arrived in Pasaia with approximately 600 crew members on board, underscoring the festival's "international appeal".
