The Gazte Festak in Urnieta stand out as one of the municipality's most significant celebrations, alongside the San Miguel patron saint festivities. Traditionally, they attract a large number of residents and visitors eager to enjoy the appealing program of activities. This year's edition, which concluded on Sunday, primarily focused on offering a wide range of events for children.
The festivities commenced on Friday afternoon, and from the initial rocket launch, the dancers from Egape Dantza Taldea were central figures. They celebrated their two decades of existence by launching a rocket from the balcony of the Town Hall and also participated in the Urnieta Dantzan event on Saturday. On Sunday, they performed again in San Juan Plaza, accompanied by the Txanbolin txistu band.
In addition to the dancers' performance, Sunday morning featured a street parade by the local txistu group and a play area in the ikastola's courtyard. Throughout the morning, a circus workshop and a board game were held, creating an exceptional atmosphere where many children and families had a great time for two hours. The finals of the pelota tournament in the kontzejupe concluded the morning's schedule.
After Egape Taldea's performance in the plaza and a lunch break, the afternoon in Urnieta offered two more activities. First, a parade of giants and big-heads accompanied by dulzainas, starting from San Juan Plaza and ending at Plazido Muxika Plaza. An hour later, Zirika Zirkus provided entertainment with dances and games under the title 'Egun on, sikera!'.
Thus, a festive weekend concluded, blessed by perfect weather conditions, with no rain and without excessive heat.
