The Astigarraga City Council has announced that the renovation and expansion works for the municipal sports center will commence on September 1st, with the swimming pool remaining open until August 31st.

The project entails a comprehensive renovation and expansion, leading to an almost complete modification of the building. The works are budgeted at 6,706,899.27 euros (8,224,568.32 euros including VAT) and were awarded to Construcciones Urdinberri, S.L. during the plenary session in March.
Additionally, the contract for the technical supervision of the works has been granted to XLARK Estudio de Arquitectura y Urbanismo Anton Pagola y Asociados SLP, for an amount of 160,975.29 euros, excluding VAT. The sports center's construction is contingent upon the prior installation of a transformation center in Santio Zeharra.
The transformer unit is expected to arrive in June, after which it will be installed and connected by Iberdrola. Taking into account this situation and citizen requests to keep the pool open, the City Council has held several meetings with Urdinberri and Xlark, ultimately deciding to start the works on September 1st.
