This initiative aims to continuously improve road safety and the condition of the road surface on Gipuzkoa's high-capacity network, as explained by the provincial institution. The works will be carried out in two phases: in 2026, approximately 21 kilometers will be renovated across 13 different sections; in the second phase, in 2027, the remaining 25 kilometers will be rehabilitated, completing the planned 46 kilometers.

Specifically, on the AP-8 motorway, in the direction of Bilbao, 3.2 kilometers will be improved between the towns of Mendaro, Elgoibar, and Eibar. In the direction of Behobia, 2.4 kilometers near Elgoibar and 4.3 kilometers near Deba will be renovated. On the AP-636 road, in the direction of Bergara, 1.5 kilometers will be repaired between Ormaiztegi and Ezkio-Itsaso, and another 925 meters in Bergara. In the direction of Beasain, a 1.6-kilometer section in Zumarraga will be improved.

On the AP-1 motorway, three sections will be renewed in the direction of Eibar: 2.8 kilometers in Arrasate, and two sections of 1.9 kilometers and 1 kilometer in Bergara. Additionally, on the GI-20 road, the 800-meter section between Errenteria and Pasaia will be repaired in both directions.

The works scheduled for 2027 include the rehabilitation of another 25 kilometers. On the AP-8, in the direction of Bilbao, a 1.1-kilometer section in Zarautz, 4.5 kilometers between Zumaia and Deba, and one kilometer in Mendaro will be improved. In the direction of Behobia, 660 meters in Deba and 3.9 kilometers between Getaria and Zarautz will be rehabilitated.

On the AP-1, in the direction of Eibar, two sections will be renewed: 2 kilometers between Eskoriatza and Aretxabaleta, and 2.1 kilometers between Arrasate and Oñati. In the direction of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the road surface of two other sections will be improved: 2.1 kilometers between Arrasate and Aretxabaleta, and 2 kilometers between Aretxabaleta and Eskoriatza.
