The PNV municipal group in Elgeta has accused the EH Bildu Government of creating "alarmism and frustration" concerning the school canteen project, asserting that viable options are currently under study.

The opposition party stated that the issue of the school canteen "dates back some time" and has been addressed in various meetings with the City Council and the public educational center's management. In this regard, they highlighted that the Basque Government committed to analyzing options such as a zonal canteen, a model that, although complex, "is by no means closed and remains under study".

"A distorted image of reality is being generated. There is work done, alternatives on the table, and a willingness to continue seeking viable solutions."

The PNV has also questioned the approach taken by the Consistory regarding the announced investment. Specifically, they believe that the 300,000 euro allocation "could not have been used for the construction of a school canteen" and consider that the presented preliminary project "has no real future". Among the arguments put forward, they emphasize that current regulations "prevent locating a school canteen in a municipal building outside the educational center itself", and they also denounce that the City Council proposed including works unrelated to the kitchen in the municipal space of Espaloia Kafe Antzokia.
Furthermore, the jeltzale group maintains that the planned investment is "disproportionate" in relation to the number of potential users of the service. The jeltzale party has sought to convey a message of "reassurance to families", reminding them that the school canteen, "although not a mandatory service, continues to be provided in Elgeta through a transported meal system".
They also specify that the Basque Government's criteria for implementing their own kitchens usually require centers with more than 200 diners, a number not reached in the locality. "The service for students in Elgeta is guaranteed and will continue to be so, but probably through a different model, such as the zonal canteen, which involves preparing food in a nearby kitchen and transporting it under optimal conditions," the spokesperson stressed. This model, they add, requires "meeting important health and logistical demands", such as limiting transport time or adapting facilities, "which makes its immediate implementation in Debagoiena difficult, but does not rule it out in any way".
Finally, the PNV criticizes the management of the process by the municipal Government, considering that work was initially carried out "without consulting the Department of Education, the competent body in the matter". The jeltzale group concludes its statement by reaffirming its commitment to "quality public education and the search for 'realistic' solutions that respond to the needs of Elgeta's families".
