The flagship project of the Equality department at Oñati City Council, Emakumion Etxia, is ready for its inauguration and will begin its journey as a reference point for feminist action in the municipality. The inaugural event, starting next May 26th at 6:00 PM, will combine institutional presentations with musical programming, in a festive atmosphere open to the public.
The facility, located at 13 Kale Zaharra street, is the result of a long participatory process involving local agents and Oñati residents in a personal capacity. The project is born with the aim of establishing itself as a feminist, intersectional, community-oriented public space focused on women's empowerment.
Following next Tuesday's event, the House of Women will offer guided tours in the subsequent weeks, scheduled for June 2nd, 4th, 16th, and 18th, with various morning and afternoon times, aiming to facilitate participation for as many people as possible.
Emakumion Etxia will feature rooms for courses, workshops, and group activities, as well as legal and psychological counseling services to be added soon. Among the first planned activities is a crochet workshop session from the School of Women's Empowerment, taking place on June 1st.
The cultural program will also mark the start of activities, with offerings such as performances by Anari and Eider Rodríguez on June 3rd, a talk on feminist friendship on the 9th, the show 'JO!' on the 11th, and screenings of short films from the Zinegoak festival on the 18th.
