These two musicians have dedicated decades to the band, participating in countless cultural and festive events in the municipality. Zabaleta has been linked to the formation for 51 years, while 'Otxua' has a 23-year trajectory.
Zabaleta, a clarinet and soprano saxophone player, first joined the band between 1958 and 1962, returning in 1979. Jesús Odriozola "Otxua", a euphonium player, joined the group in 2003.
“"The band is stable, we are working on a very interesting and technically increasingly demanding repertoire. Likewise, we have renewed instruments and promoted others that are more niche, such as bassoons, thinking about consolidating the band of the future."
The Oñatiko Musika Banda (OMB) currently comprises around 60 musicians aged between 15 and 70, with the majority falling within the 15 to 30 age range, indicating a promising generational handover. Director Aitor Biain highlights the band's evolution and its increasingly demanding repertoire.
Following the conclusion of its 'Emozioak' season, the band will resume its activities in September, preparing for the Atzeko kale festivities and the sanmigeles celebrations.
