Manu Díaz, president of the Gipuzkoa Football Federation and native of Bergara, experiences the days leading up to the Real's Cup final, expressing excitement for the return of fans and the values of Gipuzkoan football.

Manu Díaz (Bergara, 1965) was appointed president of the Gipuzkoa Football Federation in 2020 and re-elected last year for another four-year term, remaining in office until 2028. During his tenure, Real has played two Cup finals, with this Saturday's being the second. This time, however, the Cartuja football stadium will be filled with fans, unlike the previous final which was played during the pandemic.
In the days leading up to the final, Díaz stated that he is not nervous, although such events require a lot of work. He anticipates that nervousness will appear at the stadium, but for now, he is calmly awaiting the final. In 2021, as president, he had the privilege of watching the final at La Cartuja, and then felt the desire to relive that experience with all of Gipuzkoa and all the fans.

"We have always had tickets. From the beginning, our plan has been to attend and watch the match from the stands. Finally, the Spanish Football Federation has extended an invitation to us, and I will be in the box with my family and friends. However, my heart and mind will be in the stands."

Football mobilizes many people, and Gipuzkoa is no different. Díaz believes that this impact should be used to spread Gipuzkoan values. For this reason, due to the Cup final, no matches will be played this weekend at either school or federated levels, a proposal that was unanimously approved.
Díaz emphasizes that Real cannot be understood without the work of the small football clubs in Gipuzkoa. He highlights the importance of youth development and the close relationship with football, stating that Real's achievements are also those of the small Gipuzkoan teams. He adds that Real maintains this philosophy of nurturing youth talent, as seen in the trajectory of Sanse and the first team, forming a strong squad with Gipuzkoan players.
As president of the Gipuzkoa Football Federation, Díaz states that, although he works in amateur football, the achievements of professional teams influence his daily life. He believes that everything in football in Gipuzkoa is interconnected, and that this final is a beautiful moment, especially for the youngest, attracting them to football.
