According to Jose Ignacio Asensio, Deputy General and Deputy for Sustainability, and Monica Pedreira, Director of Ecological Transition, the foral cycle path network has shown positive development. Usage is particularly concentrated in six sections: Herrera-Txintxerpe, Martutene-Astigarraga, Azpeitia-Azkoitia, Tolosa-Alegia, Bergara-Elorregi, and Anoeta-Tolosa. Of these, the Bergara-Elorregi section alone accounts for 431,771 daily trips.
“"The Gipuzkoa Foral Cycle Path Network is a fundamental infrastructure for daily mobility, as it is primarily used on weekdays and for trips related to work, studies, and accessing services."
A report by the Bicycle Observatory confirms that the network is not solely for leisure but serves as a crucial infrastructure for daily mobility. Regarding modes of use, 79% of displacements are made on foot, exceeding 8 million, and 21% by bicycle, with over 2.1 million.
