The classification phase of the Men's Basque League 1st Division concluded this weekend, with Kanpanzar Arrasate in third place, awaiting Getxo's result to determine their opponent in the promotion phase.

Kanpanzar Arrasate suffered a defeat against Elorrio in the final matchday but maintains its third position. However, Getxo still has one match to play against Atletiko San Sebastian, and if they secure a bonus point, they would overtake Arrasate in the standings.
In that scenario, Kanpanzar Arrasate would face Elorrio in the promotion phase. Elorrio, despite being champions, has declined direct promotion to a higher category as they do not meet the requirements set by the Spanish Rugby Federation for playing in Honor Division B.
Consequently, Elorrio will play a playoff against the three teams ranked behind them: Uni Bilbo, Kanpanzar Arrasate, and Getxo. The playoffs will take place on the weekends of May 9 and 16, with the return matches hosted by the first and second-ranked teams, specifically on the fields of Elorrio and Uni Bilbo.
Thus, the only certainty is that Kanpanzar Arrasate will play their return match away from home, either at San Roke or El Fango. If Getxo fails to secure the aforementioned bonus point against Atletiko San Sebastian, Uni Bilbo would be Kanpanzar Arrasate's opponent in the playoff.
Meanwhile, the senior women's team secured a victory at San Roke against Gipuzkoa Sortzen. After an excellent start to the match, where they led 15-0 thanks to tries from Maia Guridi, Aizea Blanco, and Aiora Agirregomezkorta, the visitors managed to narrow the gap. In the second half, tries from Jone Ugaldea and Maia Guridi sealed a 27-13 victory.
Other protagonists of the weekend were the Pirolitikak, who participated in the Intercatia Fest tournament held in Valladolid. This event brought together over 500 women aged 35 and older across 19 teams. The mothers from Arrasate Errugbi Taldea performed exceptionally well, winning all three of their matches and finishing in ninth place.
