At the Okendo playroom in Arrasate, next Saturday, May 23rd, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a workshop for children in the 1st to 3rd grade of Primary Education will be held. This event, organized by the Arrasate Food Table, will be free of charge, but the last day to register is Monday, May 18th.
The workshop, titled 'From the land to the table: cooking with producers', aims to playfully introduce children aged 6 to 9 to local products and cooking. It also seeks to convey knowledge about sustainable local production and the benefits of producing and consuming proximity products.
In addition to cooking, the session aims to highlight the work of producers and the importance of healthy eating, emphasizing the positive impact of responsible consumption on the environment. In this session, Errastiko Ogia will be the focus, and children will have the chance to meet the producer personally and prepare a recipe with seasonal products.
Although the activity is free, places are limited, so prior online registration is essential at https://labur.eus/lurretik_mahaira, or in person at the BAZ (Citizen Attention Service), playrooms, or Txatxilipurdi.
This initiative has been organized by the Arrasate Food Table, in collaboration with Txatxilipurdi, Ereindajan, Errastiko Ogia, and the Arrasate City Council. The Food Table was launched in 2025 with the goal of promoting a sustainable and quality local food system.
Since its creation, it has gone through several phases: training sessions were held in February 2025; the steering group and working groups were formed between June and December; and the consolidation phase began in January 2026. Currently, the table comprises agents from various fields: the city council, the Debagaraia Rural Development Association, Ereindajan, Txatxilipurdi, local producers, the educational sector, food-related services, and citizens.
After a fruitful year, the Arrasate Food Table will hold its public presentation on June 5th to introduce its members, mission, and future challenges.
