Gaizka Garat-Mattin Bereau and Xabier Arrasate-Kepa Garat are poised to compete for a place in the final of the prestigious Euskal Jaia cesta punta championship in Durango. The Garat-Bereau pair defeated Ekhi-Peru in a thrilling preliminary match that went to a tie-breaker (12-15, 15-14, and 4-5), in a hard-fought contest.
Meanwhile, the Arrasate-Kepa duo overcame Altuna-Zarandona with scores of 11-15 and 13-15. While this match was less spectacular, the victors clearly demonstrated their dominance.
In the quarter-finals, the surviving combinations will face Bonnin-Caparrus and Libois-Oierdi, respectively. These matches are scheduled for May 30th and 31st.
Additionally, Amets-Argoitia I and Javier-Ibar will compete in the second tie of the first session, while Celaya-Urrutxua and Aarón-Oyenhard will open the festival on the following day.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, June 6th, with two sessions at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM. The final will take place one week later.
