The Elgeta Palestinarekin association has organized a silent gathering for May 23 in Elgeta's town square, on the anniversary of the town's bombing, to denounce fascism and imperialism and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The Elgeta Palestinarekin association has stated that fascism and imperialism use war to impose their ideological model, as well as to invade and plunder peoples. For this reason, they have called for a gathering on Thursday, May 23, at 7:00 PM, in Elgeta's main square.
“
"Elgeta is a town that has suffered the pain of bombings, brutal repression, and occupation, and we want to raise our voice to denounce what happened 89 years ago in Elgeta and what is happening today in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran."
The gathering will be a fifteen-minute silent assembly, where slogans such as “No to war! No to imperialism!” and “No to the business of death!” will be chanted. All residents of Elgeta have been urged to participate in the mobilization.
The association has denounced the “total destruction” and “criminal blockade” caused by Israel's daily attacks in Gaza, “protected by the most evil army in the world.” Furthermore, they have indicated that southern Lebanon is joining this “ethnic cleansing,” emphasizing that “the Zionist yearning for a large supremacist Jewish State brings repression and death for the Palestinian people and neighboring countries.”
“
"In Elgeta, we demand memory and justice when we remember the bombings, the dead, and the repressed in Elgeta."
They have also added that they will mobilize against Francoism and fascism, and to ensure that genocides do not go unpunished.
