The Bergara City Council has unanimously approved the process to establish Angiozar as a minor local entity, which will grant the neighborhood greater autonomy and open new avenues for accessing subsidies.

This initiative will allow the Angiozar neighborhood to manage its own affairs while remaining part of Bergara. A special promotional committee will be formed, comprising the mayor of Bergara, the mayor of Angiozar, representatives from municipal political parties, and local residents, to guide the process.

"Finally, for us, it is about being someone. Until now, we have always had to present ourselves as Bergara, and now we are a small entity. Angiozar can present itself anywhere. It mainly opens the way for us to apply for subsidies. We would have a different line, the Bergara town hall its own, and us ours."

Political parties have also expressed satisfaction with the decision and hope the process will advance in the coming months. A spokesperson for EH Bildu stated that Angiozar will have the opportunity to gain more powers and resources to improve local management and better adapt to the neighborhood's needs. The first step will be the creation of the decision-making body.
Furthermore, the council also approved the economic plan, although it sparked debate between EH Bildu and the PNV. EH Bildu explained that in 2025 they had to request a loan to finance major investments, which necessitated the creation of an economic-financial plan to comply with the 2026 provincial regulations. They emphasized that this plan was developed in conjunction with the Provincial Council and will ensure financial stability.
The PNV, meanwhile, criticized the municipal government's management, accusing them of failing to develop the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) and the Mobility Plan, and also mentioned delays in the reurbanization works of Martokoa. The EH Bildu spokesperson responded that the Martokoa project is undergoing a price review but is part of the municipal government's objectives and will commence before 2027.
The Socialist Party has reiterated its commitment to remain vigilant, as it did during the budget approval, considering the economic situation of the city council. They indicated that they would give the municipal government time to evaluate its policies later.
