“"In Arrasate, we are paying for the door-to-door system, which is used in Oñati and Antzuola, a more expensive and less efficient model. The problem is that the total cost of waste management is distributed equally across all municipalities, which means that Arrasate residents are paying more for a system that does not yield better results."

The EAJ-PNV party in Arrasate has reported that the municipality's waste fee is among the highest in Gipuzkoa, attributing this situation to the increased cost of the door-to-door collection system.
The EAJ-PNV in Arrasate has indicated that residents of the municipality pay one of the highest waste fees in Gipuzkoa, amounting to 161.76 euros annually per household. The party highlights that in nearby municipalities such as Beasain, which uses a smart container system, fees are 12% lower, at 143.61 euros.
According to EAJ-PNV, the reason for this cost discrepancy is clear: Arrasate is funding the door-to-door collection system, which is implemented in Oñati and Antzuola. The party argues that this system is more expensive and less efficient, leading to higher payments by Arrasate citizens without superior outcomes.
The nationalist party has pointed to the example of Beasain, where households pay 143.61 euros, compared to 161.76 euros in Arrasate, a 12% difference. The disparities are even more pronounced in the commercial and hospitality sectors: in Beasain, businesses pay from 346.23 euros versus 514.20 euros in Arrasate (a 33% increase); and in hospitality, the difference is 14%, with 589.87 euros in Beasain compared to 685.06 euros in Arrasate.
From EAJ-PNV's perspective, it is time for the Debagoiena Commonwealth, governed by EH Bildu, to reconsider the waste collection system in Antzuola and Oñati. They propose moving towards a unified system of smart containers across the entire region, which would allow for cost reduction and improved efficiency.
