Arrasate is gearing up for summer with the upcoming opening of its water parks and outdoor pools in early June, alongside a campaign promoting responsible water use.

As the summer heat arrives and the desire for the first dips of the season grows, the Arrasate City Council is preparing its aquatic facilities. The water jet parks are scheduled to open during the first week of June, while the outdoor pools at the Musakola sports center will commence their summer season on June 12th.
This week marks the beginning of the installation work for the Santa Bárbara and Villa Amparo water parks, as reported by the Council. The municipal intention is for both facilities to open their doors in the early days of next month, "provided that meteorological conditions are favorable".
In addition to the installation of various play features, cleaning, maintenance, and water quality analysis will be carried out to ensure "all health and safety requirements" are met before public opening.
High Water Consumption
The City Council has used this opportunity to highlight the significant water consumption of the water parks, despite having a centralized reuse system. According to the data provided, 1,896 cubic meters of water were used in 2025, compared to 1,863 m³ recorded in 2024. The highest figure in recent years was in 2023, when consumption reached 2,919 cubic meters.
The Council explains that this amount is equivalent to completely filling the outdoor Olympic pool at Musakola or, even, eleven times the medium-sized pool in the same complex, a comparison aimed at raising awareness about the importance of responsible use of these facilities.
In this regard, municipal officials have called on citizens to care for these aquatic infrastructures and maintain appropriate civic conduct. Although periodic water quality checks will be performed, they remind the public that "the good condition of the facilities also depends on the collaboration of users".
One-Week Closure Due to Bacteria
They warn that the accumulation of dirt can promote the appearance of bacteria and lead to temporary closures. Indeed, last summer one of the water parks had to remain closed for a week after bacterial contamination was detected in the water. “If we all use them appropriately, we will have a better chance of avoiding these situations,” the City Council states.
Until September 13th
In parallel, at the Musakola summer complex, workers are emptying, cleaning, and filling the pools to prepare them for the start of the summer campaign, which will run from June 12th to September 13th.
