The youth of Aretxabaleta, through the newly formed Atxabaltako Txosna Batzordea, will organize a unified txosna for this year's Andramaixak festivities, putting an end to previous years of division.

In recent years, the Andramaixak festivities in Aretxabaleta have featured two different txosnas, each with its own program and organizers. However, this year, this situation will change, and residents will have the opportunity to enjoy a unified txosna, thanks to the newly established Atxabaltako Txosna Batzordea.

"For the past two years, there have been two txosnas at Andramaixak, and we both thought that prolonging this situation in a town like Aretxabaleta made no sense."

The Atxabaltako Gazte Mugimendua and GuGeu Atxabalta have been the two groups that set up txosnas in the last two Andramaixak. Although various conditions led to that situation, members of both groups believed that, even if each followed its own path in other areas, perpetuating this division during the festivities made no sense. According to committee members, seeing the division among Aretxabaleta's youth, they decided to unite for the festivities and create a single txosna committee, with the aim of organizing powerful celebrations and having the opportunity to be all together.
This year's effort is not the first attempt by the local youth to create a unified txosna committee. The previous year, the Atxabaltako Gazte Mugimendua and GuGeu Atxabalta were also in contact but failed to reach an agreement. According to committee members, the lack of agreement was due to time constraints. This year, however, they started meeting earlier, and the possibility of having a single txosna is now a reality.
In addition to time issues, there have also been changes in attitude. Seeing that negotiations were prolonged, they started meeting earlier. Furthermore, both groups have learned from the mistakes made the previous year and have met from the beginning with a different willingness, seeking a solution. They knew it was possible, as many of their ideas were not that different.
The new and unified Atxabaltako Txosna Batzordea held its first meeting on April 18. Although the date was not the most suitable, the call was well received. Seeing that the conversations between the groups were going well, they scheduled the first meeting for early February. It was later learned that it would coincide with the Copa del Rey final, and many people went to Seville. However, more people than expected attended that assembly, and people left happy seeing the willingness to work.
Committee members have positively evaluated that first meeting. It went very well and served to start building relationships with the new committee. Many people attended, and they are very happy in that regard. It served to present the ideas they brought and to start creating the first necessary working groups. There is a lot of work to be done, but they left very satisfied.
The second meeting of the new committee will be on Saturday, May 2, in the Karmele Igartua hall, starting at 5:00 PM. In principle, the committee will meet fortnightly, and, as explained, they expect more people at future meetings, as several young people who could not attend the first meeting have expressed interest in starting to go.
Although the Txosna Batzordea has emerged from the agreement between these two groups, they have emphasized the importance of functioning individually from the beginning. One of the things that was decided was that decisions in the assemblies of the Txosna Batzordea would be made individually, as the main objective is for people outside these groups to come. Committee members have indicated that there are people who have not approached these groups until now, and to give them a place, they have thought that it is best to function individually, to build the Txosna Batzordea together.
