At the event, students received their diplomas after completing studies in the Degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and the Master's in Control in Smart Grids and Distributed Generation. The minister congratulated the graduates on completing this stage and thanked their families and the center's teaching staff for their support.
Pérez Iglesias emphasized the strong link between the training acquired by the graduates and Euskadi's strategic priorities in industry, energy, and decarbonization. He recalled the recently reformulated Science, Technology, and Innovation Plan Euskadi 2030, which identifies smart grids and storage as future driving sectors, and includes the Innovation Lighthouse strategy, such as the Decarbonization Lighthouse for the second energy and environmental transition.
“Your training aligns perfectly with the strategies that the Basque Government is promoting to face the energy transition and move towards a more efficient, electrified, and decarbonized industry,” stated the minister.
In this context, Pérez Iglesias explained that the energy transition process involves “increasing energy efficiency in all processes, electrifying everything possible, promoting battery improvement, and advancing towards a scenario of electric mobility and the widespread use of renewable energies.”
Furthermore, he highlighted that university students are well-prepared to tackle problems because universities not only impart knowledge but also foster critical thinking through faculty research. "This connection with current research updates and enriches training, developing skills such as critical thinking and the ability to propose innovative solutions, preparing them for professional and social challenges."
