This Wednesday, in an excellent atmosphere, the residents of Mutriku are celebrating the main day of the Malen festival. With favorable weather, the program began with a dawn serenade by the Mutriku Music Band, followed by the High Mass, a children's park, and a performance by the town's band. The afternoon featured the bull-running event and a rural sports festival, while the evening includes fireworks, dances, and concerts.
On Thursday, however, children will be the protagonists of 'Malen Txiki Eguna'. The day's program will kick off with a children's drawing contest at 10:00 AM. Following this, there will be a parade of giants and big-heads (12:00 PM), the finals of the 'Txikien Madalen' children's Basque pelota championship at the Miruaitz fronton (5:00 PM), the show 'Modernoak' in Zabiel square (5:00 PM), the children's drum parade organized annually by the Hogar del Marinero association (8:00 PM), and the 'Esna gazte!' disco party (9:30 PM).
Although Thursday will be a suitable day for rest for young and old alike, the festivities will not end. On Friday, the 'Kuadrilla Eguna' (Day of the Squads) will be celebrated in town, and on Saturday, the 'Santixo Eguna' (St. James' Day) will take place, concluding this year's 'madalenak'.
