The Morkaiko Mendizale Taldea mountain club is bringing back its mountain bike (MTB) ride in Elgoibar on September 19, after several years of absence from the local calendar.

The Elgoibar mountain bike ride, organized by the Morkaiko Mendizale Taldea, is set to return on September 19. This event offers a unique opportunity to enjoy mountain biking in the surrounding areas of the town, in a non-competitive format open to cyclists of all ages.
The Mintxeta sports area will serve as both the starting and finishing point for the event, which will commence at 9:00 AM. Participants will have the option to choose from three different routes, catering to various skill levels.
The “Txiki” route is designed for beginners and children, making it ideal for family participation. It covers a distance of six kilometers with an approximate elevation gain of 250 meters, primarily traversing the Urruzuno valley. The short route spans 22 kilometers with a 950-meter elevation gain, passing through Elgoibar, San Lorentzo, Azkarate, Irukurutzeta, Karakate, and returning to Elgoibar. Finally, the long route extends for 32 kilometers with a 1,500-meter elevation gain, starting from Mintxeta and heading towards San Lorentzo, Azkarate, Irukurutzeta, Elosumendi, Kurutzebakar, and Karakate, before descending back to the finish line in Mintxeta.
Registrations will be managed through the Kirolprobak platform, under the cycling discipline in the BTT/MTB specialty. Participants under 18 years of age must present authorization from their parents or legal guardians. The registration period will remain open until 11:59 PM on September 17. The cost for both the short and long routes is 15 euros, while the “Txiki” route will be priced at three euros. As the event is non-competitive, there will be no classifications, but gifts will be distributed among participants.
