Deba's Kultur Elkartea hosts the fourth edition of the Marea Gora conference cycle this July, featuring four talks on social and cultural themes.

The town of Deba will host the Marea Gora conference cycle for the fourth time this July, following excellent reception in previous years. Organized by students from the 18th promotion of the Debabarrena Experience School (Ikasten), with support from Kultur Elkartea and the Deba City Council, four engaging talks have been prepared.
All conferences will take place on Wednesdays in July, starting at 19:00 in the main hall of Kultur Elkartea, with free admission. One of the four talks will be in Basque, and the other three in Spanish.
Once again, the cycle upholds its primary objective: "to offer quality conferences that promote knowledge, debate, and critical thinking," and "to complement the summer cultural programming."

The talks will cover topics of social and cultural interest, primarily aimed at adults, summer visitors, and residents of the region.

The cycle will commence on July 1st with the conference 'Brujas y brujerías, todo mentira' (Witches and witchcraft, all lies), presented by the renowned writer and communicator Toti Martínez de Lezea, who will debunk myths about witchcraft and historical persecutions.
The second talk is scheduled for July 8th, titled 'El nuevo orden mundial y los derechos humanos: entre el caos y la resistencia' (The new world order and human rights: between chaos and resistance), delivered by Juan Hernández Zubizarreta, a leading figure in the analysis of globalization and human rights.
On July 15th, maritime historian and director of the Euskal Itsas Museoa (Basque Maritime Museum), Xabier Alberdi Lonbide, will present the talk 'Euskal itsasontzigintza eta itsas historia XVI. eta XVII. mendeetan' (Basque shipbuilding and maritime history in the 16th and 17th centuries).
Finally, on July 22nd, Oihane Cabezas Basurko, a researcher at AZTI, will conclude the cycle with a conference on 'Lo que el mar esconde y nos devuelve: microplásticos y basuras marinas en nuestros ríos y playas' (What the sea hides and returns to us: microplastics and marine litter in our rivers and beaches).
