The Elgoibar City Council will reopen the doors of the Mintxeta gym on September 1st, following the completion of renovation and expansion works that began on June 15th. The renovated, expanded, and improved facility is now ready for citizens, operating during its regular hours: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM; Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM; and Sundays and holidays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The main objectives of the project have been to modernize the facilities and improve quality, adding 240 square meters to offer users a more functional and comfortable environment. During the construction, cardio machines and pulleys were moved to the court of the IMH sports center to ensure service continuity. The intervention carried out this summer has included 23 new machines and the maintenance of others, significantly expanding the equipment.
This project is the result of significant institutional and business collaboration. The tender price was 206,760.90 euros (excluding VAT), and the award was finalized at 186,073.41 euros (excluding VAT), achieving considerable savings. The works were carried out by the company Elecnor. Additionally, 65,701.71 euros (including VAT) have been invested in purchasing 20 new machines. DanobatGroup has contributed 125,000 euros to finance the works, a clear example of the commitment between the municipality and the local company, and their involvement in the municipality's development.
The Elgoibar City Council wishes to thank Danobat for their support, the exemplary attitude shown in improving public facilities, and for making this collaboration possible. This project is not an isolated initiative; it is a direct result of a strategic commitment included in the Legislative Plan, responding to the strategic line Herri Bizixa. In 2023, the Municipal Government Team committed to using sport as a tool for transformation, and in line with that commitment, the investment to improve the sports infrastructures of Mintxeta, Olaizaga, and IMH is being implemented.
