The 'armero' team, despite initial doubts, has found its best form under the guidance of coach Beñat San José. Now, the dream of fighting for promotion to the First Division is more alive than ever, as they are only two points away from the play-off positions.
One of the key players in this good run is forward Javier Martón, a former Athletic player. Martón had few opportunities with the 'rojiblanco' team and was loaned to Albacete during the winter transfer window. Last summer, he signed with Eibar until June 30, 2028.
The Navarrese attacker has responded to the trust placed in him and scored again this Sunday. Martón netted the first of Eibar's two goals in their 2-1 victory over Huesca. After a goalless first half, the forward opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the second half, finishing a great assist from José Corpas.
Although the Aragonese team, currently in relegation spots to Primera RFEF, equalized a few minutes later, Sergio Álvarez, in the 79th minute and five minutes after Huesca was reduced to ten men, scored the definitive 2-1.
Thanks to the goal against Huesca, Javier Martón has now scored 14 goals this season. Twelve of them have been in the league, and the other two in the Copa del Rey. In total, he has participated in 36 matches, 33 of which were in the regular league championship, and the remaining three in the cup tournament. He has accumulated a total of 1,875 minutes of play, which translates to scoring a goal every 134 minutes.
On the other hand, the negative note of the match was the injury to Peru Nolaskoain. The versatile player, who can play both as a central defender and in midfield, had to be substituted due to injury in the ninth minute of the game. In a midfield jump, the player from Gipuzkoa injured his left ankle upon an awkward landing. Nolaskoain has suffered various injuries throughout his career, some of them serious, to his ankles.
