Deba hosts XXXIX Theatre Week with diverse program

The cultural event, organized by Goaz Antzerki Taldea, will run from May 22 to 31 with plays and improvisation workshops.

The town of Deba will celebrate its XXXIX Theatre Week from May 22 to 31, organized by Goaz Antzerki Taldea, featuring various venues.

Deba's cultural agenda will be filled with theatre next week with a new edition of the XXXIX Theatre Week organized by Goaz Antzerki Taldea. From May 22 to 31, various stages in the town will become a reference point for diverse creative proposals, offering the public the chance to enjoy the magic of theatre.
The event kicks off on Friday, May 22, with the play “Birakolore” by Zurrunka Teatroa & Semilla Voladora at Simón Berasaluze square, starting at 7:00 PM.
On Saturday, May 23, it will be the turn of the La Zurriola Theatre School, presenting “Bernarda klownaren etxea” in the Mirror Hall of the Agirre Palace at 7:00 PM. A day later, Arrapaladan will perform the play “Abdukzioak, ke barbaridad” on the same stage, starting at 12:30 PM.
The theatre program continues on May 26, with the plays “Romeo=Julieta” and “Herri lo” at 6:00 PM. Following this, on May 28, back at the Agirre Palace, the spotlight will be on “Requiescat in pace”, with a first session at 6:00 PM and a second at 7:00 PM. These performances will feature students from the Gozatuz theatre course.
Meanwhile, the company Itzuli will stage the monologue “Adriene Bergson-Johnson” on May 30 at 7:00 PM in the Mirror Hall of the Agirre Palace. This work by Maryse Urruty tells the story of a woman born in Texas who discovers her Basque roots and embarks on an adventure to save Basque culture and Euskal Herria.
Additionally, on May 31, at 7:00 PM, at Burugorri in Itziar, the company Giltxaro (Bilbao) will perform “Alperrak, tunanteak eta maleanteak”. This short piece, which advocates enjoyment and explores memory and history through comedy.
In addition to the plays, there will be two sessions focused on improvisation. Supituki Show will offer an improvisation theatre session on May 30 at 7:00 PM in the Mirror Hall of the Agirre Palace. The following day, May 31, an improvisation workshop will be held there, starting at 10:00 AM.
