The Arbil social association honored this Thursday at the Kultur Elkartea the volunteer individuals who have been organizing and offering film screenings in Deba for years.

Next year marks a decade since a group of Deba residents, united by a shared passion for cinema, decided to dedicate part of their time to organizing and presenting film screenings in the town. Since then, many have made attending the Kultur Elkartea's Sunday afternoon cinema sessions a regular part of their plans. The venue, with a capacity of around a hundred people, is consistently full or nearly full for most film showings. This success is attributed to the expertise of the volunteers responsible for organizing the cinema and bringing "good, current" films to Deba.
The Arbil elkarte soziala, recognizing the significant role this group of volunteers plays in the community's leisure activities, "especially for the town's elderly residents," paid tribute this Thursday "to those who make it possible for us to enjoy cinema in Deba every Sunday."

Iñigo Loiola, Patxi López, Begoña Tello, Marian García, Amaia Aldai, Elena Egaña, Mari Carmen Martínez, and Mariaje Carrillo are the eight individuals recognized for their nine years of work enabling Deba's citizens to watch films. This tribute was not impromptu; Arbil elkartea took advantage of the presence of Zinemaldia director José Luis Rebordinos in the town to hold the event.
Rebordinos, invited by Arbil, visited Deba this Thursday to give a talk on contemporary cinema. The director of the San Sebastián festival discussed the quantity, variety, and quality of films produced in recent years, and also shared numerous anecdotes that the audience followed with great interest.
Seeing that the event showed no signs of ending, the organizers had to cut short the usual question-and-answer session. This Thursday, the Kultur Elkartea was filled with a palpable sense of cinema, more than ever before.
