The Regional Transport of Álava begins a progressive renovation on June 1st, increasing the number of lines and reaching new towns.

The Regional Transport of Álava is launching a progressive renovation starting this Monday, June 1st, impacting several regions within the territory. The service will expand from 29 to 33 lines, offering more available seats and extending its reach to new towns. Additionally, reservation procedures will be enhanced, allowing bookings up to two hours before departure from July 1st.
The annual budget for the service will rise from 1.2 to 1.9 million euros, a 58% increase aimed at strengthening a transport system that has seen significant growth. In 2025, the Regional Transport service exceeded 100,000 uses in Álava.
The first phase of the renovation began on June 1st with 23 lines. In the Rioja Alavesa region, the service will transition from a single line to two: Rioja Oeste and Rioja Este. These new lines will connect with Laguardia, the Hospital de Leza, and the Alavabus line 9, which links Vitoria-Gasteiz and Logroño.
This change will increase seating capacity, improve frequencies in Elvillar, Kripan, and Lanciego, and introduce Regional Transport for the first time to Moreda, Barriobusto, and Labraza. These three locations already have Alavabus service and will now also be served by Regional Transport.
The renovation will be implemented in stages. On June 1st, 23 lines were updated. On July 1st, nine more renewed lines will be added, and the new last-minute reservation system will become active. A new line is also planned for Gorbeialdea in the coming months.
The second phase, on July 1st, will introduce nine additional renewed lines, with improvements primarily in the Añana and Aiaraldea regions. In Añana, the service will be enhanced with two vehicles for the municipalities of Añana and Valdegovía, doubling capacity and improving connections with Alavabus. Aiaraldea will benefit from two new lines connecting Artziniega, Respaldiza, and Amurrio.
From July 1st, users can make last-minute reservations up to two hours before departure, provided seats are available, for a fee of 5 euros payable in cash. The standard reservation system remains in place, requiring bookings before 8:00 PM the previous day, costing 2 euros with a BAT card or 2.5 euros in cash.
