This afternoon, workers from the Vibrantz company held a protest at the factory entrance in Laudio to denounce yesterday's fatal workplace incident. A large crowd gathered, and an atmosphere of tension and sorrow was palpable. A worker died in Laudio after an oven at the factory exploded.
The concentration, called by the Workers' Committee, included speeches from representatives and a colleague of the deceased Laudio resident. Firstly, they expressed their solidarity with the friends and family of the deceased worker. They also denounced that it is unacceptable for people not to return home from their workplace.
They criticized the company for its cost-cutting measures and the public institutions for not providing sufficient resources for occupational health and safety. Consequently, they demanded a thorough investigation and clarification of responsibility for the accident.
This evening, at 7:30 PM, further demonstrations have been called in conjunction with the Aiaraldea Strike Committee (SOS Aiaraldea) in the main square of Laudio.
To investigate the cause of the explosion, the Workers' Committee informed Aiaraldea Komunikabidea that Vibrantz has hired an engineering firm. Reportedly, the pavilion where the fatality occurred has been sealed off, and everything has been left as it was for experts to examine. Regarding factory operations, work will not resume today, and the company has not exerted significant pressure for employees to return. It is possible that some departments, particularly those not directly involved in production, may restart on Friday, but many individuals are not in the right psychological state to return to work.
