Artziniega's Ancient Fair will once again offer the chance to immerse oneself in a medieval atmosphere this September 19th. The town's streets and corners will be filled with the spirit of that era.
As announced by the organizers, local artisans and producers, along with merchants from afar, will present a wide array of products: sweets, clothing, jewelry, food, and many other curiosities. In total, there will be over a hundred stalls.
There will also be street entertainment throughout the day to enhance the time-travel experience, featuring jugglers, fantasy creatures, musicians, dancers, and shows for all ages. Organizers encourage residents to dress up for the occasion to make the experience more immersive.
The Artziniega Ancient Fair first premiered in 1998 and was the first of its kind in Euskadi. Over the years, the organization has been managed by various entities, including the Artziniega Museum, the Bolaretxe cuadrilla, the City Council, and a group of restaurateurs.
Currently, following a reflection process initiated in 2022, the fair is organized by a "popular working group," with support from the Artziniega City Council and the bars La Villa, Ostargi-Koba, Batzoki, and Pirineum. The work of collaborators and volunteers is essential for the event's success. Among them is Peio Ureta Ofizialdegi, a 3D Artist who has designed the fair's poster for the last three editions.
