This morning, one of the buses transporting students from Etxaurren Ikastola was involved in an accident on the A-3641 road. The bus veered off the road when a truck was crossing simultaneously, due to the narrowness of the space. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
In any case, the Municipalities of Aiara and Okondo have once again urged Diputado Jon Nogales –as road management falls under his purview– to permanently resolve the existing problems on this infrastructure. Indeed, accidents related to trucks and heavy traffic are frequent at this location.
The infrastructure itself requires improvements to ensure safety.
As they have indicated, the Okondo City Council has directly informed Nogales of the incident. The Aiara City Council, for its part, sent a communication to the Diputado a few weeks ago demanding intervention at this point. Today, they have also sent him a letter explaining what happened.
The Okondo City Council has issued a statement emphasizing that the problem is not new and that they have been requesting solutions for years. The Aiara City Council, meanwhile, published a more general message on social media this morning, following Etxaurren Ikastola's wish, not to create alarm within the educational community.
The opinion of both Municipalities is similar, and they have asserted that the infrastructure itself needs improvements to guarantee safety.
