The indefinite strike at Maderas de Llodio, which began on September 22, 2025, has officially ended after 260 days. The employees, gathered in an assembly, approved the management's final proposal, thereby resolving the labor conflict.
The strike originated from the company's announcement of an ERE (Employment Regulation File) that initially affected 39 employees, over a quarter of the workforce. This number was later reduced to 35 in October. The union's response was to pursue legal action, and in February 2026, the Basque Superior Court of Justice (TSJPV) partially ruled in their favor.
The court's ruling stated that the ERE was "not in accordance with the law," as the company "had not duly proven" the causes it alleged to justify the 35 dismissals. Since then, progress had stalled until recent weeks, when negotiations brought the parties closer.
The final proposal, described by unions as the "last offer," while not fully satisfying all demands, did acknowledge the right of dismissed employees to seek reinstatement and the termination of the legal ERE process. The works council has positively assessed the readmission of affected individuals who wish to return and the consolidation of the court's ruling.
While specific details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, the committee expressed gratitude for the support received "from the entire region" and announced that the exact terms of the procedure to conclude the conflict will be explained in the coming days.
