The Laia Eskola program has celebrated its tenth anniversary and will begin the new academic year with 156 activities. Many of these will take place in Aiaraldea, and this project by the Provincial Council of Álava also includes Urduña and Orozko, as was revealed today at the Town Hall of Orozko.
The presentation of the program, which promotes women's empowerment and feminism, brought together Iñaki Gurtubai, the provincial deputy of the Department of Equality, Euskera, and Governance; Joana del Hoyo, Director of Equality; along with the mayors of Orozko, Okondo, Laudio, Artziniega, and Amurrio, as well as council members from Aiara and Urduña, and the president of the Aiaraldea Quadrilla.
Brochures detailing the program will be distributed shortly. Representatives from these various institutions emphasized their commitment to equality, feminism, empowerment, and networking among women.
Councilwoman Eneritz Alonso led the event. Iñaki Gurtubai highlighted Laia Eskola's decade-long journey, noting its evolution from an empowerment school to a network spanning the entire territory. This year, 153 events were presented, a number he contrasted with the 458 held last year.
Subsequently, Iñigo Pinedo (President of the Aiaraldea Quadrilla), Aitor Iza (Mayor of Orozko), Txerra Molinuevo (Mayor of Amurrio), Karmele Poblacion (Councilwoman of Aiara), Nagore Gomara (Councilwoman of Llodio), Onintze Elvira (Councilwoman of Artziniega), and Uxue Mendibil (Councilwoman of Urduña) provided details on the activities planned for their respective municipalities.
The public representatives mentioned a variety of activities, including feminist cinema, literature clubs, calls for the creation of women's choirs, monologues, and workshops.
