Municipal technicians and the Ertzaintza evacuated an occupied house in Luiaondo this morning, due to the building's ruinous state and the risk posed by its roof.

This morning, a team of municipal technicians, three vans from the mobile brigade of the Ertzaintza, and half a dozen officers from the Laudio police station arrived at an occupied house in Luiaondo to carry out its evacuation. The local authority has declared the property in a state of ruin, as the roof endangers pedestrian safety.
Municipal workers and police officers informed the ten people inside about the situation before they were asked to leave. There were no incidents, and the procedure was carried out without tension, lasting about an hour. As the house door was open, they entered and informed each person individually of the situation.
As mentioned, ten people were sleeping in the building today, but according to explanations given to Aiaraldea Komunikabidea, at least five other people were using the space. All of them have been left homeless.
Once the property is evacuated, the surrounding area will need to be fenced off and secured to prevent parts of the roof from falling into the street and to ensure public safety.
A member of the family that owns the house was present this morning and explained to Aiaraldea Komunikabidea that this will be the initial intervention. The family member mentioned that the house was used annually by the family to celebrate Christmas and spend the summer.
Looking ahead, the family has stated their intention to rent it out so that it "has life," preparing it for two families and doing so in collaboration with the Basque Government. However, they emphasized that they will need money for this and to "repair the damage and the disaster they have caused us," as the roof is "in pieces."
Furthermore, Aiaraldea Komunikabidea asked the family member if they had called the eviction company that was at the house last year, and they denied it: "I didn't do it, I don't know who did."

In fact, on October 8th, a team from the company Desokupacionlegal was at the house and assaulted a journalist from Komunikabidea while they were working. The Aiaraldea employee filed a complaint, and the case is currently in court.
