This decision represents a change in the management model for these municipal services, opting for a public entity that combines efficiency in service delivery with a clear social commitment. Indesa is a proprietary entity co-owned by the Provincial Council of Álava and several public institutions, including the Amurrio City Council and the Basque Government.
The primary goal of this organization is to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities, especially those facing significant challenges in entering the job market. Through services such as cleaning, gardening, laundry, and industrial management, Indesa contributes to social and labor inclusion, aligning its activities with values of social responsibility and sustainable development.
In this context, the Amurrio City Council has chosen to entrust these tasks to Indesa, integrating social criteria into public procurement and strengthening its commitment to inclusive policies. This model also guarantees service quality, as Indesa is a proprietary entity with extensive experience in managing such services for public administrations.
The cleaning service contract includes facilities such as the Mendiko Eskola buildings (Primary and Early Childhood Education), the EPA and training classrooms, the San José civic center, the House of Culture, the School of Music, the Tantaka nursery school, as well as various public spaces and municipal facilities. The service will progressively expand to other facilities and educational centers as current contracts expire.
Furthermore, the gardening service will cover the maintenance of green areas in urban environments, neighborhoods, and industrial estates, including the pruning of plane trees.
“"We are committed to a more responsible contracting model that guarantees good service and, at the same time, generates a positive social impact."
With this decision, the Amurrio City Council reinforces its commitment to responsible public procurement, prioritizing not only the efficiency and quality of services but also their positive social impact on the region.
