Classic Cycling Events in Aiaraldea Quickly Sell Out Registrations

Cycling events in the Aiaraldea region, such as the La Karpy march and the new Aiaraldea Zikloturista, attract a large number of participants.

The enthusiasm for cycling in the Aiaraldea region is evident, with registrations for events like the first Orbea Gravel Aiaraldea selling out in 24 hours, and similar success expected for the upcoming La Karpy march.

The passion for classic cycling in the Aiaraldea region is reaching new heights. A clear example is the first edition of the Orbea Gravel Aiaraldea, scheduled for June 5th and 6th, which sold out all 300 available entries in just 24 hours. Similar success is anticipated for the eighth classic march La Karpy, set to take place on June 14th in Artziniega.
Registrations for La Karpy opened on May 2nd, and within 48 hours, over 100 riders had already signed up out of a maximum of 200, due to logistical reasons. Additionally, 25 people expressed interest in the accompanying bus, which follows the event closely each year. This interest persists despite the new 5-euro participation fee and the fact that the program and itinerary have not yet been fully disclosed, beyond its 9:00 AM departure from the Ethnographic Museum and its 35-kilometer route.
One of the main characteristics of this cycling march is that bicycles must predate 1987, and clothing must be vintage, avoiding imitations if possible. This unique aspect annually attracts retired professional cyclists who use the event to reminisce about old times. The Artziniega Cycling Club organizes this event with the aim of promoting the town and its region, returning to the origins of cycle tourism.
Furthermore, as the organizers of La Karpy celebrate their 25th anniversary, the Cuadrilla de Aiaraldea and the region's cycling clubs have chosen Artziniega to host the start and finish of the I Aiaraldea Zikloturista on May 31st. This new sporting event aims to promote cycling, encourage healthy lifestyles, and highlight the territory of Aiaraldea through sport, with the intention of establishing itself as a permanent fixture in the regional sports calendar each year.
Registrations for this non-competitive event, designed to enjoy the route and the environment in a sporting and convivial atmosphere through the five municipalities of the region, are now open via the Cuadrilla de Aiaraldea website. Prices are 25 euros for federated individuals and 30 euros for non-federated participants.
