The new children's play area in Kortezubi Bidea, situated between Kortezubi Bidea and Aita Luis Villasante, will officially open this Saturday, September 26th, at 12:30 PM. The project, with an investment of 367,756.11 euros, has renovated and expanded the playground, adding a 300-square-meter translucent roof.
The roof, made of translucent polycarbonate panels and supported by steel pillars, is designed to protect the play area from rain while maintaining brightness and an open connection to the urban environment. It includes a side enclosure up to 3.5 meters high for protection against gusty rain.
The project has retained some existing play elements and introduced new ones for various age groups, such as an individual swing, a wooden playhouse with tables and benches, a spring rider, a two-seater seesaw, and a slide.
With the completion of these works, the City Council aims to provide families in the area with a more accessible, safe, and weather-protected play space, while also enhancing the plaza's use as a community meeting point.
