Gernika-Lumo will celebrate the upcoming Primer Lunes de octubre with over 100 Pyrenean cattle participating in its traditional livestock competition. A total of 103 animals from eleven farms across Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, and Navarra will compete, highlighting the event's significance for the primary sector, local produce, and the work of farmers.
The entries will consist of 96 females and seven males. Bizkaia will have the largest representation with four farms and 53 animals. Gipuzkoa will contribute four herds and 29 cattle, while Navarra will bring three farms and 21 animals. Farmers will present their best specimens to a specialized jury.
Beyond the competition, the fair will feature pintxo tastings made with quality Basque Label Pyrenean beef, alongside a market for local products and crafts, strengthening the connection between livestock farming, gastronomy, and proximity production.
The Euskal Jaia will precede the main event, including a special market and a sukalki, blending tradition, gastronomy, and local products.
