As the summer season approaches, the regional Executive is focusing its efforts on towns like Mundaka, Elantxobe, and Ea. These municipalities, lacking large sandy beaches, rely on the proper conditioning of their ports and coastal areas to ensure safe and quality public use for both residents and tourists.
The Department of Ports is deploying a series of interventions adapted to the topography and specific needs of each port, with the objective of providing municipalities with modern and safe infrastructure during the months of highest influx. According to the director of Ports, the intention is to provide a “concrete response” that strengthens the relationship between port activity and urban life in these municipalities.
In the port of Mundaka, a comprehensive renovation of public restrooms and the adaptation of the space for summer surveillance personnel will be carried out. One of the most significant technical works is the dredging of the outer dock, a fundamental action to facilitate boat anchoring and maintain port operability. Additionally, access stairs in the coastal area will be repaired, and private security has been contracted for the period between June and September.
In Elantxobe, the priority has been placed on safety and accessibility. In addition to reinforced private security during the summer, a port warehouse will be enclosed. These measures complement maintenance work already completed, such as the repair of the handrail for access to the summer pool, a critical point for bathers' safety in the town.
The intervention in Ea stands out for its direct collaboration with the local council. The Basque Government has authorized the installation of essential seasonal services, such as showers in the port area and beach huts, substantially improving the user experience in an environment where space is limited.

With these actions, the Executive seeks to consolidate a coastal management model that enhances the attractiveness of these Bizkaia enclaves from a perspective of ordered and sustainable use.
