The Bermeo Flag was presented today at the Fishermen's Museum. The municipality will become the epicenter of rowing this Saturday, September 19th, as it hosts a significant end-of-season regatta in the Eusko Label League. The presentation was attended by Jon Salsamendi, coach of Bermeo-Urdaibai, Mayor Nadia Nemeh, Naroa San Millan, president of the Bermeo-Urdaibai Rowing Club, and Unai Rementeria, president of BBK.
Salsamendi highlighted that the Bermeo regatta has become a “clear reference in rowing”, not only as one of the season's final races but also for the unique atmosphere generated in Bermeo. Furthermore, Salsamendi himself will be leaving Bermeo-Urdaibai at the end of the season, adding a special significance to Saturday's competition.
The Bermeo-Urdaibai coach expressed great enthusiasm as a team to give their all and compete in their home regatta. "I believe that if all the people of Bermeo push for it to be a beautiful day, we will all come out winners," he stated. He acknowledged that the team has met its initial expectations, even though August was not as strong as hoped. Nevertheless, he expressed pride in the team's effort and performance.
Salsamendi also praised the club's daily work, as well as San Millan's continued belief in the project initiated 50 years ago and valued the efforts of everyone working towards it.
The Mayor of Bermeo, Nadia Nemeh, emphasized the “lovely atmosphere” that will prevail in the town on Saturday, highlighting the diversity and color. She added that it serves as an excuse to extend the festive mood and encouraged locals and visitors to participate in the regatta, which has become a "reference point."
