The public company Visesa and the Bermeo City Council have officially signed a collaboration agreement to promote the construction of approximately 52 general regime protected housing units (VPO) exclusively for rent.

This significant development, strategically located on Kaltzadape street, is part of the Department of Housing and Urban Agenda's strategy to decisively expand the affordable public housing stock in the fishing town.
Through this agreement, the Council will cede a plot of 1,200.74 square meters free of charge to Visesa. In line with this effort, the municipality will process a 95% bonus on the Construction, Installation, and Works Tax (ICIO) to expedite the project.
According to Carlos Quindós, CEO of Visesa, the plan is to "tender the project in September of this year," materializing an estimated investment of 10.1 million euros. Subsequently, Alokabide will manage the apartments.
For her part, Mayor Nadia Nemeh Shomaly highlighted that “the Council has provided land and thanks to the agreement reached with Visesa, we will be able to build social rental housing. This project addresses a real need for many citizens in our town, especially for young people and families facing difficulties in accessing housing”.
In the words of the mayor, “thanks to inter-institutional collaboration, we are taking another step to improve the well-being of citizens and guarantee decent and accessible housing. We are committed to continuing to build a municipality that offers a more cohesive society with more future opportunities.”
