The development, located on Kaltzadape street, will help strengthen the supply of affordable housing in the municipality. The Basque Government, as the landowner, will cede the necessary land free of charge. The plot covers 1,200 square meters with over 5,200 square meters of net usable building area.
The municipal government, led by mayor Nadia Nemeh (EH Bildu), will promote a modification to the fiscal ordinance for the Construction, Installations, and Works Tax (ICIO) to grant a 95% tax rebate for these rental homes and will process an exemption for urban services and environmental fees.
Visesa's general director, Carlos Quindós, stated that they plan to tender the project next September, with a total investment of approximately 10.1 million euros, to "move forward as soon as possible".
Once construction is completed, the rental apartments will be managed by the public company Alokabide, thus becoming part of the Basque Government's public rental housing stock.
The mayor emphasized that this initiative is particularly aimed at "young people and families facing difficulties in accessing housing." Councillor Denis Itxaso had previously announced in March that half of the apartments would be reserved for individuals under 36 years old.
