The Bermeo City Council has opened the application period for restricted-hour access permits to Portuzarra port, aiming to inform and facilitate adaptation for citizens and groups linked to port activities.

This measure is part of the municipal decision to limit vehicular traffic in Portuzarra between 13:00 and 18:00 on weekends, holidays, and specific periods of the year such as Holy Week, the summer season, and Christmas. The local administration seeks to prioritize pedestrian use of the space and improve coexistence, fostering a more pleasant environment for leisure and stay.
From June 15, 2026, access control will be carried out through a video surveillance system, making it essential to have the corresponding authorization beforehand to enter during restricted hours. To this end, the City Council has already begun the permit processing.
The deadline to apply for authorizations is June 15, 2026, and applications will be resolved in approximately one week. Authorizations will be valid for one year, with the possibility of automatic renewal. However, the City Council may conduct official checks and plans a general review process every five years.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Berhaz office during established hours, or through the municipal electronic headquarters, where the specific procedure for requesting permanent port access authorizations is already enabled, with all the necessary information to complete the process.
To start the application, it will be mandatory to complete the corresponding form (IN-444). In all cases, each person may register a maximum of two vehicle license plates, also indicating their model. The authorizations are aimed at individuals and activities directly linked to the port, and work is simultaneously underway to enable a complementary system of temporary authorizations to address specific access needs.
