Addressing the difficulties citizens face in accessing housing, Zamudio Town Council has strengthened its commitment with an ambitious plan. This initiative aims to consolidate the municipality as an attractive place to reside. To achieve this, the PNV government team has designated access to housing as a “strategic priority,” promoting various initiatives to ensure real opportunities for residents to develop their life projects in the municipality.
These initiatives include new residential developments, rental aid for young people, and the development of urbanizable land. The urban development, supported by a plan approved in the 2000s, is allowing for a “significant expansion of the residential offer,” according to the jeltzales. A key area is the residential development of Arteaga, where several promotions are already underway.
In this sector, one plot is hosting the construction of 16 homes already allocated to families in the municipality, while another plans for the promotion of over 45 new homes currently in the allocation process. Additionally, a tender for subsidized housing has been launched, allowing for the allocation of another 30 new homes. In total, more than 90 homes are either under construction or in the allocation phase, demonstrating “a significant reinforcement of Zamudio's residential offer” and addressing “one of the main demands of its citizens.”
Furthermore, the Council has launched a new call for rental aid for young people aged between 18 and 35. This measure has already benefited “about ten people” and remains active in this year's municipal budget to strengthen support for youth emancipation. Key requirements include age (between 18 and 35), being registered in Zamudio, and having rented a home last year.
Maximum income levels are set at 30,840 euros for a single person or 61,680 euros for a family unit. The aid provided covers 50% of the rent, up to 300 euros per month per person. The application period for these aids will be open from April 15 to May 29, available at municipal offices or through the website.
