The Uribe Kosta Services Commonwealth, comprising the municipalities of Barrika, Berango, Gorliz, Lemoiz, Plentzia, Sopela, and Urduliz, has unveiled the new EEIKO platform, developed by Basoinsa, to safeguard local biodiversity.

This digital tool aims for active citizen participation in the fight against invasive plants. It allows users to record observations of these species and contribute to a public mapping, providing crucial information for environmental management.
Officials from the Commonwealth have highlighted that invasive plant species pose one of the main threats to local biodiversity. The EEIKO platform enables timely detection of new invasion hotspots, as anyone can register plants observed in their surroundings. The information provided by citizens will be essential for administrations, allowing them to identify affected areas with greater precision and design more effective control strategies.
This approach will optimize resources and facilitate quicker action where needed. The participation process has been designed to be straightforward; users only need to complete a simple registration on the EEIKO website, accessible from both mobile devices and computers.

Citizen collaboration is fundamental to halting the spread of invasive species. Every contribution allows for the creation of a more precise map to protect our ecosystems.

The Commonwealth encourages all citizens to participate in this initiative, emphasizing it as a direct and collective way to care for the environment.
