The Ugao-Miraballes City Council will launch a new electric vehicle charging point in May, located in the Arandia neighborhood, aiming to promote sustainable mobility.

This new installation involved a municipal investment of 14,500 euros and received funding from the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), as part of policies to boost energy transition. Mayor Ekaitz Mentxaka stated that this initiative "represents firm steps towards a more sustainable and accessible mobility model," facilitating the use of electric vehicles for citizens and helping to reduce emissions in the municipality.
The charging point will be situated in the Arandia car park, on the access road to the cemetery and schools, next to the children's play area. The City Hall considers this location ideal, both for its accessibility to users and its proximity to the electrical panel required for connection. Construction work has been completed, and only the installation of the charger remains before it becomes operational.

"It represents firm steps towards a more sustainable and accessible mobility model, facilitating the use of electric vehicles for citizens and helping to reduce emissions in our municipality."

The new charging point will be semi-fast and will allow two electric cars to charge simultaneously. Furthermore, it will offer the possibility of prior reservation and can be activated via a mobile application or card. Municipal sources have clarified that it "will also be public in nature."
The Council also indicated that this will not be the only action undertaken in this area, as they plan to continue expanding the network of charging points in other areas of the municipality in the future.
