The Galdonamendi neighborhood of Mutriku hosted the Basque Silvestrism Championship, where the best singing birds were selected in the categories of canaries, mixed canaries, goldfinches, and mixed goldfinches.

The neighborhood of Galdonamendi in Mutriku hosted the Basque Silvestrism Championship on Sunday. This event served to identify the best singing birds across the Basque geography, competing in four distinct categories: canaries, mixed canaries, goldfinches, and mixed goldfinches.
This year, three of the four championship titles were awarded to competitors from Bizkaia. Ismael Molano, from Zorroza, was crowned the Basque champion in the canary category. Meanwhile, Aitor Mella, originally from Errenteria, achieved victory in the mixed canaries category, adding to his win as Gipuzkoa champion in the same discipline just a week prior.
Furthermore, the title in the goldfinch category was secured by Alain Carreras from Bilbao, and Honorato Costas, from Barakaldo, earned the championship title in the mixed goldfinch category.
