Fans of The Flying Rebollos are celebrating the release of 'Iosune y Ernesto', the Basque band's first new song in almost a quarter-century, hinting at a new album due in autumn.

Followers of the Bizkaia group The Flying Rebollos can now enjoy Iosune y Ernesto, the rock band's first new song in almost a quarter of a century. The sextet has confirmed their return to the recording studio and the road with this classic rock-sounding single, stating they are “cooking up our next album”. The new record is set to be released in autumn.
The track Iosune y Ernesto is the first preview of their upcoming album, the third in an intermittent career that has been fallow for almost two and a half decades. The song features a classic, 70s rock sound with a touch of R&B, reminiscent of bands like Burning and Platero y Tú. The protagonists, two outlaws, flee down the highway at Ramones' pace, without destination and at nearly 200 kilometers per hour, after skipping out on a motel bill and heading for a gas station robbery. “They weren't Bonnie and Clyde, but they could be,” sings the vocalist.
After almost 25 years of absence, the group performed a test run at Txiberri in Urduliz, and the overwhelming acceptance led to The Flying Rebollos' reactivation. Last October, they played in Bilbao at the Santana 27 venue, and in December, they repeated at the Kafe Antzokia as part of the Negufest winter cycle. On both occasions, they promised “a huge party, a great night of rock’n’roll” and delivered. Subsequently, they performed a series of concerts in various national locations and announced their return with new songs throughout 2026.
The band consists of Xabier Goikoetxea on bass, Txus Alday and Gorka Bringas on guitars, and Edorta Arostegui on vocals. They are joined by Mario Larrinaga on keyboards and Koki Chamorro on drums, replacing Xabier Arretxe, also known as Polako, who is currently the manager of Fito y Fitipaldis.
