An increasing number of residents in Trapagaran are expressing alarm over the noticeable rise in rat sightings in various areas of the municipality. This situation, according to locals, poses a direct threat to public health and community well-being.
The rodents have been particularly observed on Resurrección María de Azkue street, near the swimming pools, on Zuberoa street, adjacent to the Municipal Euskaltegi, and around San Gabriel, where residents report their presence is becoming increasingly common.
This is not just an isolated incident, but a problem that directly affects health, can generate risks for public health, and deteriorates the quality of life of the residents.
The PNV of Trapagaran has stated that this issue has been brought to the attention of the City Council on multiple occasions, yet no effective response has been received to date. Consequently, the jeltzale group has called for the initiation of deratization and pest control campaigns to curb the problem's spread.
Furthermore, they deem it essential for municipal services to assess whether this situation is occurring in other neighborhoods of the municipality, in order to anticipate and prevent further expansion of the problem.
