Vizcaino gymnast Hodei Rivas, aged 13, clinched the gold medal at the Euskadi Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship this Saturday. Born in Ermua and a member of the Olazarmendi Club of Zaldibar, the young athlete adds another significant achievement to his sporting career.
The competition took place at Sakoneta in Leioa, where Rivas showcased his prowess in the three disciplines judged: ball, hoop, and clubs. The Vizcaino gymnast secured third place in clubs and hoop, and second place in the ball routine, results that propelled him to the top position in the overall standings.
“"Since I was little, I loved performing movements related to rhythmic gymnastics, whether they were smooth, complex, natural, or free."
It was his mother, Vanesa, who noticed Hodei's exceptional talent and encouraged him to take up rhythmic gymnastics. With the support of the Olazarmendi Club of Zaldibar, constant effort and improvement have been central to his journey. From the beginning, he dedicated part of his free time to watching and replicating the movements of the world's best gymnasts until he mastered them.
