The municipality of Galdakao will host both the start and finish of the fourth stage of the Itzulia Basque Country 2026 this Thursday. The race is scheduled to depart from Kurtzeko plaza around 13:00 and conclude in the Elexalde neighborhood at approximately 17:20. This event will lead to significant traffic and parking restrictions, both in the hours leading up to and during the race day.
Restrictions will be concentrated on Juan Bautista Uriarte street, in the Elexalde neighborhood, in the Lapurdi car park, and around the Town Hall. Specifically, from 18:00 on this Wednesday until approximately 20:00 on Thursday, traffic restrictions will be in effect on Juan Bautista Uriarte street and in the Elexalde neighborhood. Consequently, the City Council advises citizens to “avoid circulating through these areas, as far as possible”.
Furthermore, from 07:00 on this Thursday, Lapurdi and Euskadi streets will be closed to traffic. Access will only be permitted for garages, and team buses will be stationed in the Lapurdi car park.
Regarding parking limitations, from 12:00 on this Wednesday, parking will be prohibited in the rotating car park in front of the Town Hall, as well as on Juan Bautista Uriarte street, the Elexalde neighborhood, and Lapurdi and Euskadi streets. These measures are being implemented “with the aim of facilitating logistics and ensuring the safety of the event”.
The Galdakao City Council has urged residents to “plan their journeys in advance given the impact the event will have on mobility within the municipality”.
